Profhilo® is the latest Innovation in Anti-Aging Skincare, launched in the UK in 2016. It has gained a lot of popularity in recent years as its generally safe and effective, and has minimal downtime. It is a type of hyaluronic acid (HA) injectable that works by stimulating collagen and elastin production in the skin. This results in improved skin elasticity, hydration, and overall skin health.

What is Profhilo®? 

Profhilo® is a highly concentrated hyaluronic acid-based injectable treatment. Unlike traditional dermal fillers, it does not add volume to the skin or change shape of the face. Instead, it works by delivering a high dose of hyaluronic acid to the skin to boost hydration and elasticity. This results in smoother, more radiant, and youthful-looking skin.

From our 30s, the production of collagen and elastin in the skin decreases markedly leading to appearance of fine lines, loss of skin’s elasticity and plumpness, plus general skin dulness. 

Profhilo® acts as a bio-remodeller as after around 28 days it stimulates significant collagen production. This results in tighter, smoother, plumper skin. It can be started in your 30s to help with collagen banking, or later in your 50s- 60s to help improve skin appearance.

Additionally, it is a versatile treatment that can be used on various parts of the face and body. This includes the neck, décolletage, hands, and inner thighs. 

What is the downtime?

The treatment itself involves injecting a small amount of the solution into specific areas. In the face, there are 10 injection sites. The solution then diffuses evenly into the tissue. Initially, a course of 2 treatments is recommended 4 weeks apart followed by 6 monthly treatments.

One of the main benefits of Profhilo® is that it requires no downtime. However, you may experience some slight redness or swelling at the injection site, but this should subside within a few hours.
