  • How does it work?

The Blue Peel Radiance treatment contains a unique blend of salicylic acid, lactic acid, and glycolic acid. The VI peels contain a mix of TCA,

Retin-A, Ascorbic Acid, Salicylic Acid and

Phenol. Additionally some of the advanced peels contain hydroquinone (beneficial for melasma) or benzoyl peroxide (for acne).

These ingredients work together to exfoliate the outermost layers of your skin, revealing a smoother, brighter complexion.

During the treatment, a licensed healthcare professional will apply the peel solution to your skin. The solution is left on your skin for a specific amount of time, depending on your skin type and concerns. You may feel a slight tingling sensation during the treatment, but it is generally well-tolerated.

After the solution is removed, your skin may appear slightly red and flaky for a few days. This is a normal part of the healing process, and you can apply moisturiser and sunscreen to help soothe and protect your skin.

  • What are the benefits of a chemical peel?

One of the main benefits of both peels is that it is suitable for all skin types and tones. It is a safe and effective option for individuals with sensitive skin, as well as those with darker skin tones who may be more prone to hyperpigmentation.

Another benefit of the Blue Peel Radiance treatment is that it is quick and convenient. The treatment takes only 20-30 minutes to complete, making it a great option for individuals with busy schedules.

Additionally, the Blue Peel Radiance treatment produces immediate results, with improvements in skin texture and tone visible right after the treatment. Over time, you will notice further improvements in the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles, and other skin concerns.

The VI peels which go deeper into the skin require less frequency of peels as they are more effective but downtime is usually a little longer (up to 7 days for most with some degree of peeling, whilst blue peel radiance gives minimal peeling).

  • How do I prepare for the peel?

You need to stop any retinoid products and exfoliants 5-7 days before your peel. This is to ensure the peel targets the correct layer of skin only.

It is recommended that you do not use sunbeds or experience sunburn or any other form of burn to the face in the 2 weeks prior to your peel.

If you have an impaired skin barrier with increased sensitivity or dryness, then you will need to prepare the skin before your Peel.

If you have very stubborn pigmentation then you will need to start a skin prep program consisting of prescription grade skincare products such as tretinoin and hydroquinone at least 4 week before your peel.

Please book a skin consultation with us so we can help you prepare your skin for a chemical peel.

  • What is the downtime?

For blue peel radiance,  it is a superficial peel, the downtime is minimum. You can return to work straight after the peel (great “lunchtime peel”).

For most people, Day 1: skin may feel tight. Day 2-3: you may experience minimal areas of dry flaky skin.

For VI peels, you can expect a degree of peeling from day 3 onwards lasting around 48 hours for most. We advice patients to expect 7 days to fully recover.

You may notice that any dark pigmentation appears worse initally after your first peel, but this tends to settles after a week or two. This is normal but if the pigmentation persists beyond 2 weeks then you should contact us for a review.

  • Is a chemical peel right for me?

You cannot have this peel if you have any of the following concerns:

    Pregnant

    Breastfeeding

    Allergic to aspirin

    Excessively sensitive skin

Active skin infections, cold sores, warts, dermatitis at the area to be treated

Sunburn to the skin to be treated,

    History of radiation therapy

Used Accutane in the past 12 months

Eczema or Psoriasis affecting the face.

    Liver condition

    Autoimmune condition

    Phenol or hydroquinone allergy

If you are looking for a non-invasive, effective treatment to improve the appearance of your skin, a chemical peel may be a great option for you.

However, it is important to consult with a licensed healthcare professional to determine if the treatment is right for your unique skin concerns and needs.

  • What happens after a consultation?

After treatment you will be given written advice. Please follow these important recommendations to help keep skin looking healthy and protected while the peel takes effect:

    - You must use broad spectrum SPF of at least 30 at all times for at least one week post procedure.

    - Avoid direct sun exposure

    - Treat skin gently- do not exfoliate for 5-7 days post peel or until skin has fully recovered (no redness/ peeling)

    - Avoid use of aggressive products or those with heavy fragrances on the treatment area as this can cause irritation.

  • What body areas can I get a peel done for?

The VI peel range can be used on most body parts for example to reduce pigmentation in areas such as hands, underarms, genitalia, back (post acne scarring), elbow and knees.
